Hospital Medical Officer - Emergency

These positions have been designed to provide a clear pathway either into Emergency Medicine training, or the GP training program for our region.

 

The department offers support to candidates for the Certificate, Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Emergency Medicine through the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM).

 

The ED is currently accredited for 24 months training with the ACEM and are undertaking the process of reviewing this to extend to 36 months accredited training time.

 

We seek dynamic candidates to join the team in an increasingly busy department. The department sees over 60,000 patients per year, with approximately 25% paediatric presentation rate and a growing admission rate of 28%. A 12 bed Short Stay Unit is also managed by ED. The department has a culture of supervision and support for junior medical staff. This includes proactive training for HMO and Registrar groups, protected weekly training sessions, multi-disciplinary M&M and a responsive positive feedback program.

 

Skills & Experience

  • We are looking for doctors who have a team focus, exceptional communication skills and a desire to learn emergency medicine skills in a regional setting.
  • The department places a high priority on patient centered care and a supportive team environment.
  • Candidates will ideally have registration with ACEM and/or a strong interest in Emergency Medicine.
  • At minimum, candidates will be required to have General Registration with APRHA.
