Internal Locum - General Surgery (Breast Surgeon)

About the Role

Join Grampians Health Ballarat’s highly regarded General Surgery team as an Internal Locum – Breast Surgeon. This flexible locum role supports urgent backfill needs across theatre, clinic, and ward environments, with the opportunity to work within a specialist surgical team that includes access to a new robotics program and diverse caseloads across the region.
You'll be instrumental in providing timely care to breast surgery patients and contribute to teaching and service improvement.

  • Provide specialist breast surgery and general surgical support
  • Cover outpatient clinics, theatre sessions, and ward rounds
  • Participate in general surgery on-call roster
  • Attend MDTs and key clinical meetings (M&M, Breast Screen)
  • Supervise junior medical staff
  • Join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team

 

Key Responsibilities

• Cover theatre, clinic and ward-based breast surgery services
• Provide urgent backfill to cover vacancies across the general surgery roster
• Attend breast surgery MDTs, Breast Screen and M&M meetings
• Supervise and support junior medical staff
• Work within GH’s clinical governance, safety and quality frameworks
• Support patient-centred, inclusive care aligned with GH values

 

Skills & Experience

• Current AHPRA registration as a medical practitioner
• FRACS in General Surgery (or equivalent)
• Experience in breast and general surgery across inpatient and outpatient care
• Commitment to teaching, quality care and continuous improvement
• Strong communication, interpersonal and clinical decision-making skills
