About the Role
The preadmission service prepares patients for their admission for elective surgery. It aims to ensure that patients are admitted in the best possible state.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides reception, clerical, and general administrative support to ensure smooth operation of the Pre-Admission Unit
- Arranges, coordinates, and sends reminders for patient appointments
- Collates paperwork, prepares clinic notes, and processes booking cards/consent forms
- Manages patient waitlists for surgery and liaises with the Booking Office and Surgical Liaison Nurses
- Promotes efficient teamwork within the unit and collaborates with internal and external service providers
- Assists in collecting data for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to support service efficiency
Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and high-level computer literacy, including experience with IBA Patient Administration Systems, VINAH, and Microsoft Excel
- Proven clerical experience with excellent organisational and planning skills, capable of working independently and accurately
- Effective time management and prioritisation skills, especially in high-pressure or fast-paced environments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate well to medical, nursing, and allied health staff
- Demonstrated adaptability to change management processes and willingness to support new implementations
- Commitment to continuous learning, teamwork, and delivering high-quality customer service
