HS3 | $37.68 - $41.65 per hour
About the Role
The Payroll Officer is responsible for the preparation and processing of fortnightly payroll, ensuring the accurate application of approved rosters, Enterprise Agreement entitlements, reimbursements, and deductions. The role also involves the preparation and reconciliation of employee entitlements and associated liabilities.
This position requires strong attention to detail and a comprehensive understanding of payroll-related legislation and regulations.
Key Accountabilities
- Process end-to-end fortnightly payroll using Chris21 and rostering systems, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely completion of all tasks.
- Follow payroll checklists, proactively finalising pre-pay run activities, managing off-cycle and ad-hoc payments, and escalating issues as needed.
- Ensure accurate payment of salaries, superannuation, taxation, and staffing costs in line with procedures and legislative requirements.
- Respond to employee payroll enquiries via phone and ticketing system, and resolve discrepancies through data audits and exception reporting.
- Manage rostering data exports/imports, conduct complex leave and super reviews, and prepare termination documents and employment certificates.
- Maintain accurate records and up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, and system processes.
Skills & Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in full-function Payroll processing.
- Experience and knowledge in legislative compliance including Taxation legislation, Superannuation legislation, and award interpretation.
- Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage time efficiently.
- Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office in particular Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Working Knowledge of Payroll and Rostering systems. (Chris21, RosterOn, and Optima are highly regarded)
- Ability to process and manage high volumes of data, adapt to changing priorities and show initiative and innovation in all aspects of the operations of the position.
- Demonstrated experience in developing process documentation and user guides.
