Permanent Full Time 80 hours with a monthly ADO | flexible hours available
 

About the Role:

The Psychiatric Nurse Consultant is an exciting opportunity to join the Adult Acute Unit, where you'll collaborate with the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) in shaping, developing, and overseeing specialist bed-based programs. This senior role offers a chance to make a direct impact on clinical outcomes while mentoring junior nurses and shaping future leaders in the mental health space.

 

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide high-level clinical consultancy and leadership to the NUM in recovery focused nursing care.
• Offer guidance on complex cases, incorporating evidence-based clinical interventions.
• Lead the implementation of clinical frameworks such as Safewards and reducing restrictive interventions.
• Mentor and role model for staff, ensuring high standards of professional ethics and clinical competence.
• Collaborate with the NUM to develop and implement professional development strategies for staff.
• Contribute to quality improvement programs aimed at improving clinical outcomes.

 

Skills & Experience:

• Current registration with AHPRA (Div. 1)
• Postgraduate qualifications in psychiatric/mental health nursing
• Completed or working towards Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent)
• Strong leadership skills and experience in initiating and managing change
• Excellent knowledge of Victorian mental health systems and evidence-based practices
