Registered Nurse- Next Step Program
12 month fixed term contract commencing 1 January 2026
The Grampians Health Ballarat Emergency Department is excited to offer an exceptional opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our team in the 2025 Emergency Department Next Step Program.
This program offers a supportive environment for nurses aiming to enhance their assessment and critical thinking abilities, broaden their knowledge, and improve patient care within the Emergency Department. It has shown to be highly beneficial in preparing nurses for advanced studies in Emergency Nursing.
The program features in person study days, real-time patient and skill assessments, comprehensive workbooks, and advanced life support training—all fully supported and without any associated course fees
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in a structured program designed to progress your career in Emergency Nursing.
- Exhibit clinical excellence and professionalism in patient care.
- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high-quality care to our clients and their families.
- Contribute to fostering best practices and service delivery within the Emergency Department.
- Able to work roster of days and nights across a 7-day week
Skills and experience:
- Current AHPRA Registration.
- Preference of prior emergency nursing experience after completion of graduate year
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong clinical skills and a commitment to ongoing learning and development.

This position is paid in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2024 - 2028. The classification is Registered Nurse Grade 2 (YP2 - YP9) which ranges from $41.36 - $52.20 per hour.
