Senior Mental Health Clinician – Child Mental Health
Fixed Term full time 80 Hours per fortnight + monthly ADO

About the role
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, or Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service at the Ballarat campus.
This is a full-time role, with part-time hours negotiable and a flexible commencement date (From August 2025 until March 2026). The successful applicant will work as an integral member of the Community Mental Health team, delivering high-quality care across the Grampians region, including Ballarat, Horsham, Ararat, and surrounding areas.

- Provide community-based mental health services across the Grampians region.
- Contribute to a multidisciplinary team, supporting children, young people, and their families.
- Participate in a service roster, which may include occasional work outside standard business hours (8:30 am – 5:00 pm), in line with service needs.
Skills and experience:
- Relevant qualification and registration with AHPRA or AASW.
- Willingness to travel regionally as required.
- Relevant experience in and an ongoing commitment to the delivery of evidence-based, family inclusive interventions for young people in high-risk categories who experience significant mental health concerns. Demonstrated proficiency in the application of knowledge in current evidence-based treatment practices and approaches.
- You must be able to meet relevant EBA requirements for a mental health clinician in your discipline (Psychologist, OT, Social Worker, RPN).
Key Responsibilities
- To clinically manage a caseload of clients within a multidisciplinary team that emphasises, practices and continually seeks to improve client-centred, trauma informed, family-inclusive, community based, evidence-based and best practices.
- Routinely provide best practice assessment and recovery-oriented psychosocial treatment provision and care; the level of expertise commensurate with the role and years of experience.
- Develop, administer, implement and review clinical treatment plans that target identified biological, psychological, and social needs of people and their families and include targeted evidence-based treatment strategies consistent with GMHWS policies, procedures and discipline- specific standards.
- To provide specialist support through primary, secondary and tertiary consultation to children’s services through identification of complex needs and prioritization of client /family/significant other needs and/or referral and treatment options.
- Demonstrate clinical leadership, influence and actively participate in relevant training and education for self and team members aiming to attain best health outcomes for patients, their families and the community in accordance.
