About the role
The Ward Clerk/Receptionist plays a key role in creating a welcoming and professional environment for patients, residents, families, staff, and visitors. As the face of the hospital or nursing home, this position supports smooth and effective communication, both in person and over the phone, by addressing enquiries promptly, directing individuals to the appropriate services or personnel, and ensuring that all interactions are handled with empathy and discretion. Through a commitment to excellent service, the Ward Clerk/Receptionist helps foster a supportive and respectful environment that enhances the wellbeing of all who enter the facility.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the multidisciplinary team with admin and clerical tasks
• Maintain resident records and data in information systems
• Provide reception and customer service to residents and visitors
• Coordinate resident admissions, transfers, and discharges
• Manage stationery, supplies, and maintenance requisitions
• Prepare documentation for respite and new resident admissions
Key Selection Criteria:
Essential:
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently
- Excellent customer service skills
- Well developed telephone etiquette and techniques
- Advanced computer skills
- Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records
Desirable:
- Certificate III Business Administration
- Previous employment in medical related field
- Previous medical terminology training
