About the role

Grampians Health Horsham Campus is the major specialist referral centre for the Wimmera and Southern Mallee region of Victoria, servicing an area of 61,000 square kilometres and a population of approximately 54,000 people. We have campuses in Horsham and Dimboola and provide emergency and critical care services for adults and children.

Grampians Health plays an important role in the education and training of health professionals. We are recognised by universities and medical and nursing bodies as a training and teaching centre for undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

In 2024, there were 214 gynaecology presentations in the Emergency Department and 250 gynaecology admissions to the hospital. The O&G department sees approximately 300 deliveries each year and has gynaecology theatre sessions each week.

Key Responsibilities

• Clinical management of O&G patients at both outpatient and inpatient levels and the supervision of and adequate documentation of their clinical care. This will be under the supervision of Consultant staff
• Attendance at ante-natal and gynaecology outpatients and labour ward as rostered.
• Effective liaison with midwifery and other nursing staff to ensure a high standard of clinical care.
• Provide assistance at theatre as required for Gynaecology and Obstetric patients; and undertake surgical procedures under supervision.

Skills and experience

• MBBS or equivalent degree enabling registration with the Medical Board of Victoria
• Satisfactory completion of at least two postgraduate years.
• Preferable: FSEP competency in CTG course with RANZCOG.
• Preferable: experience working in O and G for at least 12 months as a resident.
