Permanent Part Time | 24 hours per week

 

About the Role
The Wimmera Cancer Centre is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurse. This exciting opportunity will allow you to develop specialist skills and knowledge in prostate cancer care while supporting men and their families in the Wimmera region. 
Funded by the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, this role plays a key part in improving access to specialist prostate cancer nursing in rural and regional areas. You will work closely with health professionals and community organisations to ensure patients receive high-quality, personalised care across the entire cancer journey—from diagnosis through to palliative care.

 

Key Responsibilities
• Apply advanced knowledge to support men through prostate cancer care phases
• Adapt care to meet the changing and individualised needs of each patient
• Coordinate timely information, education, and psychosocial support
• Collaborate with GPs, clinicians, allied health, and regional PCSNs
• Facilitate continuity of care between settings and providers
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and education activities

 

Skills & Experience
• Ability to deliver specialised education, clinical care, and psychosocial support
• Proven counselling skills and supportive care delivery
• Project coordination and planning skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
• Current registration with AHPRA as a Division 1 Registered Nurse

 

Desirable
• Three years’ experience in prostate cancer, oncology or urology nursing
• Postgraduate qualification in Prostate Cancer, Men’s Health, or Cancer Nursing
• Understanding of men’s health education and service delivery
