Fixed Term - Full Time | (86 hrs per fortnight) from February 2026

 

 

Your Pain Medicine Fellow Training – why Ballarat?

 

Pain Medicine training at Grampians Health is accredited by the Faculty of Pain Medicine (FPM) of the Australian & New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) for core training and practice development towards fellowship of FPM.

  • Our experienced team includes specialist Pain Medicine Physicians, Clinical Nurse Consultants and a dedicated allied health team.
  • You will be part of the integrated Pain team consultant for acute inpatients at Grampians Health – contributing to an Acute Pain Service providing clinical services to post-operative, trauma and cancer patients.
  • Attend our Pain Medicine Clinic in Ballarat and participate in the multidisciplinary outpatient clinic and pain management program.
  • You will have the opportunity to learn theatre-based interventional pain procedures – with regular theatre sessions already existing
  • You can contribute to a telehealth program for patients living in rural Western Victoria
  • The position also involves regular teaching with tutorials, Grand Rounds, radiology meetings and clinical audit meetings, as well as other training within the Rehabilitation Medicine, Palliative Care, Addiction Medicine and Psychiatry units
  • There is an opportunity to participate in teaching medical students and junior doctors, perform and present audits and undertake research.
  • Performance is supervised and monitored by an accredited Supervisor of Training to ensure education and training needs are met.
  • There is opportunity to continue some practice in the primary specialist qualification field while the FPM qualification training.

 

Skills & Experience

  • MBBS or equivalent – AHPRA registered
  • Current ANZCA trainee (final exam preferred)
  • Strong clinical decision-making and communication
  • Able to work effectively within a busy team
  • Committed to education, quality, and service
