About the role

Grampians Health has an opportunity to join the Anaesthetic, Pain and Peri-operative Service and Clinical Director teams.

The Clinical Director team consists of eight Clinical Directors who report to the General Manager of Medical and Clinical Programmes. Each Clinical Director has autonomy and responsibility within their stream to develop sustainably the capability of their stream and work collaboratively with other Clinical Directors to enhance the capability of Grampians Health as a leading regional health service.

The Clinical Director role is responsible for clinical governance within the Anaesthetic, Pain and Peri-operative Service. It is ideally suited to people who are interested in developing clinical leadership, service development and ensuring the deliverance of high quality patient care and registrar training.

As an anaesthetist, you will continue to participate in the anaesthetic roster, usually at a 0.3 fraction.

As a consultant anaesthetist and Clinical Director you will be expected to work within your scope of practice and will be subject to Grampians Health Credentialing Committee’s jurisdiction whist working with us. You will operationally report to the General Manager of Medical and Clinical Programmes and professionally to the Chief Medical Officer.

 

The Anaesthetic, Pain and Peri-operative Service
The Anaesthetic, Pain and Peri-operative service at Grampians Health are an integral part of the health care treating team and sits within the Hospitals Directorate, providing anaesthetic, peri-operative and pain services across Grampians Health.

Ballarat is a leading regional training centre that provides accredited training for all registrar levels and provisional fellows in anaesthetics and is an accredited site for pain medicine fellowship. 

It provides an acute pain service in Ballarat and Horsham as well as chronic pain services that are supported by a multidisciplinary team including mental health.

It also provides peri-operative clinic services, a level 5 capable adult peri-operative service is supported by general and specialist physicians and a level 4 capable paediatric peri-operative service supported by specialist paediatricians.
