Clinical Support Nurse (Transition to Practice Program- Graduates) - Aged Care
Limited Tenure (12 Months) - Part-time (64 hours per fortnight)
About the role
An opportunity exists within the Nursing and Midwifery Education Unit for a Clinical Support Nurse – Transition to Practice Program (Graduates). This is open to Registered Nurses with an interest in Clinical Supervision and Support and a developed knowledge of clinical care in Aged Care facilities across the organization. The successful candidate would be responsible to provide direct clinical supervision and support for beginning practitioner graduates within our Care Community settings. This position will provide support to early career nurses across all clinical areas of Grampians Health (GH) Ballarat. Working with the Transition to Practice Team, you will be responsible for providing direct clinical support and instruction to program participants, mentoring graduates and newly appointed or less experienced employees to develop high-quality clinical skills. This role also has a focus on supporting clinical staff to adhere to safety features of PPE, HH, and safe manual handling.
Key Responsibilities
- Work clinically alongside graduates as allocated for majority of the shift time to support graduates within the Aged Care setting
- Provide feedback and evaluation of graduate nurse’s performance.
- Participate in teaching and learning activities including the delivery and facilitation of clinical study days, Monitor graduates’ attendance and readiness for designated client care experiences.
- Supervising graduates and the care they provide to allocated clients; and Liaise with NUMs in regard to graduate requirements and clinical needs.
- Demonstrate an empathy and understanding of all graduates/consumers and communicate with graduates/consumers in an effective appropriate manner.
Skills and Experience
- A tertiary qualification in nursing practice and registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency as a Registered Nurse
- A tertiary qualification in field of adult education and/or Cert IV in TAE or working towards
- An understanding of education frameworks including Best Practice Clinical Learning Environment Experience working within the healthcare setting, well-developed understanding of all clinical areas. Well development IT skills, written and verbal skills
