About the role 

An exciting opportunity exists to join Victoria’s dedicated cancer service improvement network as the Deputy Program Manager for Grampians Integrated Cancer Services (GICS). This role supports the delivery of statewide and regional cancer priorities aligned to the Victorian Cancer Action Plan and the broader Victorian Integrated Cancer Services (VICS) network.

This position is ideal for someone with strong project leadership capability, experience in quality improvement or service redesign, and a passion for improving outcomes for people affected by cancer. Flexible work arrangements and salary packaging benefits are available.

 

What you’ll do

  • Lead and coordinate key cancer service improvement projects
  • Provide strategic guidance to support GICS work plan delivery
  • Mentor staff and stakeholders in redesign, change management and leadership
  • Support governance reporting, including performance measures and risk management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across local and statewide networks
  • Manage project risks, issues and escalation pathways
  • Provide leadership coverage when the GICS Director is unavailable

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive work plan activities through strategic planning and project leadership
  • Lead projects from initiation through implementation, sustainability and evaluation
  • Provide expert advice on redesign, change management and quality improvement
  • Oversee reporting of targets, measures, risks and performance to governance bodies
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the cancer system to support integration
  • Maintain oversight of project risks, issues and documentation
  • Support team leadership in the absence of the Program Director

 

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in public health, health management, leadership or related field
  • Demonstrated leadership capability with ability to motivate and guide teams
  • Experience in service redesign, quality improvement or change management
  • Strong understanding of healthcare systems and cancer service delivery
  • Skilled in organisational risk assessment and mitigation
  • Ability to interpret and analyse data and report findings
  • High‑level written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Collaborative, flexible and committed to continuous improvement
  • Strong problem‑solving and strategic planning capability
  • Excellent relationship‑management and influencing skills
