Grampians Health is seeking an experienced and values-driven aged care leader to provide strategic and operational leadership across residential aged care services. Reporting at a senior level, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred care while driving compliance, workforce capability, service performance and continuous improvement.
About The Role
As a designated Responsible Person, the Director of Nursing is accountable for clinical governance, operational performance, quality and risk management, workforce leadership, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement. The role provides visible leadership to promote person-centred care, resident rights, wellbeing and quality of life through contemporary models of care, strong stakeholder engagement, workforce capability and evidence-based practice.
The Director of Nursing participates in the Aged Care DON on-call roster and contributes to the achievement of organisational objectives through service excellence, innovation, financial stewardship and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead clinical, operational, workforce and financial performance across residential aged care services.
- Ensure compliance with the Aged Care Act 2024, Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards, Code of Conduct and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain audit, accreditation and registration readiness, driving continuous improvement and risk management.
- Oversee clinical governance, SIRS compliance, quality improvement and performance outcomes.
- Deliver workforce sustainability, including 24/7 RN coverage, care minutes targets and leadership development.
- Optimise AN-ACC funding, occupancy, Star Ratings and quality indicators.
- Lead aged care reform initiatives and strengthen partnerships with residents, families, staff, regulators and key stakeholders.
About You
- Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
- Experienced senior leader in residential aged care
- Strong knowledge of the Aged Care Act 2024, Aged Care Rules 2025 and Strengthened Standards
- Demonstrated success in accreditation, compliance, clinical governance and quality improvement
- Experience with care minutes, 24/7 RN requirements, AN-ACC funding and workforce planning
- Proven ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary teams across multiple sites
- Collaborative, values-driven leader with a strong focus on resident outcomes, accountability and continuous improvement
