Fractional Staff Specialist - Haematologist
Ballarat Central, VIC, AU, 3350
Available hours 19 hours/week (Temporary Fixed Term)
Based upon years’ experience/hours worked as per AMA agreement
About the Role
- 0.5 FTE available to cover parental leave from January – October 2026
- Provide high quality care as a specialist in Haematology, both in an admitting Haematology unit and within the outpatient department in Grampians health
- Contribute to the growth of the haematology unit which is composed of six part time enthusiastic haematologists.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the Haematology team in the inpatient, outpatient, and day oncology unit settings
- Attend a weekly outpatient clinic within the BRICC, and an outreach clinic in Stawell fortnightly
- Participate in the ward service roster and after hour on call roster
- Contribute and assist with supervision, training and practice of allocated haematology advanced trainee, trainee medical officers and medical students, including the provision of appraisals
- Participate in haematology multidisciplinary meetings, morphology meetings, morbidity and mortality meetings
Skills & Experience
- Hold a current FRACP in Haematology
- A qualified medical practitioner, i.e., MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia
- Well-developed clinical skills in the assessment and management of haematology patients
- Good communication skills
- An ability to supervise the activities of junior medical staff.
