Salary: Base $450,000 + (additional allowances and superannuation)
About the Role:
The Head of Unit GH Emergency - Ballarat will work in partnership with the Director and Clinical Director of Emergency and Intensive Care and the GH Ballarat Emergency Nurse Unit Manager. The Head of Unit to provide operational and strategic clinical leadership to enable staff and unit development in line with the operational needs and strategic vision of Grampians Health. A key initial focus will be ensuring readiness of the team to move into the new and expanded emergency department in 2027.
The Requirements:
- Medical qualification and current emergency specialist registration with AHPRA.
- Fellow of Australasian College of Emergency Medicine.
- Broad experience across the spectrum of emergency medicine.
- Previous experience in a senior leadership role is desirable.
- Demonstrated skills in multidisciplinary team building in acute health care settings.

You are suitably experienced in the field of Emergency Medicine and be seeking to develop your career in clinical leadership and governance. You are experienced in teaching and professional development of medical students, interns, HMOs and emergency trainees and be able to provide mentorship and leadership for FACEMs. You are invested in delivering a high quality service for patients and a safe and rewarding workplace for staff.
Emergency Department - Ballarat:
GH Emergency - Ballarat is a designated regional trauma centre with a Tier 1 accredited training program through the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine. It currently has 35 points of care plus 12 short stay unit beds. It sees more than 56 000 presentations per year and over 23% of presentations are paediatric. GH Emergency – Ballarat will move into a new and expanded department in 2027 with completion of the Ballarat Base redevelopment.
