About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person to join Grampians Mental Health and Wellbeing Services as a Koori Mental Health Liaison Officer (MHLO) within Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health. This identified role works alongside clinicians and Aboriginal community organisations to improve access, cultural safety and mental health outcomes for Aboriginal children, young people and their families across the Grampians region. The position is supported through strong operational and cultural supervision and offers meaningful community impact.
• Support culturally safe mental health care for children and families
• Work alongside clinicians and Aboriginal community organisations
• Strengthen partnerships and service access across the region
• Contribute to service improvement and system change
• Deliver care across Ballarat, Ararat, Stawell and Horsham
Key Responsibilities
• Provide culturally sensitive support to children and families
• Act as a link between consumers, families and clinicians
• Support care planning with a cultural and wellbeing focus
• Build partnerships with Aboriginal community-controlled services
• Support staff cultural awareness and education initiatives
• Contribute to service planning, quality and evaluation
Skills & Experience
• Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified role
• Experience working with Aboriginal communities
• Knowledge of social and emotional wellbeing approaches
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
