McGrath Cancer Nurse- Breast  (2 days per week) 

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Grampians Health as a McGrath Breast Care Nurse, providing specialised breast cancer care, information and support. You’ll use advanced clinical knowledge to guide patients and families across the full cancer journey—from diagnosis through treatment, recovery and palliative care—while working within the McGrath Model of Care.

  • Deliver specialist breast care, education and supportive care
  • Provide advanced assessment, clinical management and expert advice
  • Support continuity of care across diagnosis, treatment, follow-up and palliative care
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and referrals
  • Offer tailored information, psychological support and guidance to patients and families

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced breast cancer nursing knowledge and evidence-based practice
  • Coordinate care across the cancer continuum, adapting to individual patient needs
  • Identify and support patients at risk of psychological distress
  • Liaise with GPs, oncologists, care coordinators and community services
  • Advocate for patients and contribute to multidisciplinary care planning
  • Provide tailored education and resources for patients and carers
  • Develop and review comprehensive care plans to support continuity of care
  • Maintain accurate reporting aligned with McGrath Foundation requirements

 

Skills & Experience

  • Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife with AHPRA
  • Significant post-registration experience in oncology or breast cancer care
  • Strong clinical assessment, communication and coordination skills
  • Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice
  • Strong organisational, planning and time-management skills
