Medical Oncology Fellow – 2027 Clinical Year

Fixed Term Full Time | 86 hours per fortnight
Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre (BRICC) | Grampians Health

Train with purpose. Lead your future in regional cancer care.

Applications are invited for a Medical Oncology Fellowship at the Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre (BRICC) for the 2027 clinical year. This 12‑month, fixed‑term fellowship offers an outstanding opportunity to build advanced clinical and research capability within a highly regarded regional oncology service.

You’ll work alongside an experienced and supportive consultant team, gaining broad exposure across medical oncology while contributing meaningfully to patient care, clinical trials and research — all within a service deeply connected to metropolitan partners.

Why This Fellowship?

  • Comprehensive regional oncology exposure with real clinical autonomy
  • Strong research and clinical trials involvement with experienced supervision
  • High-quality MDT participation across tumour streams
  • Supportive learning environment focused on career progression
  • Lifestyle balance without sacrificing training quality

This role is ideal for doctors who want to consolidate specialist skills, deepen research capability and experience the professional satisfaction of regional medicine — without being disconnected from tertiary-level oncology practice.

About the Role

As a Medical Oncology Fellow, you will be a core contributor to the oncology service, with a balance of outpatient, inpatient, research and teaching responsibilities.

Your clinical experience will include:

  • Medical oncology outpatient clinics four days per week
  • Active participation in multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Inpatient oncology care and consultant-led ward rounds
  • Involvement in clinical trials and independent research
  • Participation in after-hours and weekend oncology rosters
  • Teaching and education of junior medical staff and students

You will be supported to grow both clinically and professionally, with access to supervision, mentorship and education opportunities.

About You

You are a motivated clinician with a genuine interest in medical oncology and research, and you thrive in collaborative, multidisciplinary environments.

To be successful, you will have:

  • A medical qualification with relevant oncology training
  • Eligibility for specialist registration (or actively working towards)
  • An interest in clinical research and trials
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A patient-centred approach to care

About BRICC

The Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre is a modern, purpose-built facility delivering comprehensive cancer services including:

  • Radiotherapy
  • Inpatient oncology services
