About the role

Are you passionate about delivering high-quality support services in a healthcare setting? Grampians Health Ballarat is seeking a dedicated Menu Monitor to join our Meal Support Services (MSS) team. In this rewarding role, you’ll play a crucial part in ensuring patients and their families have a positive mealtime experience while working across both Acute and Sub-Acute sites.

This role requires weekend availability.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patients’ meal ordering, ensuring diet codes are assigned and orders are accurate.
  • Assist and educate patients in using the CBORD meal ordering app and manage meal orders.
  • Work collaboratively with the Dietetic and Catering teams to support excellence in meal support services.
  • Liaise with staff to ensure a smooth transition of care for patients.
  • Participate in a variety of tasks, including menu monitoring onwards, diet kitchen responsibilities, and working as a trolley runner.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and ensure continuity of care for patients through effective communication and teamwork.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with staff, patients, and family members.
  • Knowledge of or experience in special dietary requirements, including therapeutic diets, texture modification, and food allergen awareness, or a willingness to develop these skills.
  • Demonstrated empathy and a client-centered approach to care.
  • Proven ability to work independently while recognizing when to seek guidance or assistance.
  • Flexibility to adapt and prioritize tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Accredited certificate in Basic Food Handling (HLTFSE001).
  • Previous experience in a health or hospitality setting is advantageous but not essential.
