About the role

Grampians BreastScreen has a vacancy for a Nurse Counsellor in a part-time ongoing capacity. The Nurse Counsellor is a key member of the multi-disciplinary team and is an integral member of the team providing a client centred service for those recalled for further assessment following a screening mammogram and working in collaboration with the team, ensures all necessary clinical intervention is enabled, processes are supported and, wherever possible, completed on the day.

 

The Nurse Counsellor works alongside the Program Manager, Designated Radiographer and Data Manager, to assist with responding to client phone calls and planning and filling Assessment clinic appointments and further to this work, co-ordinates the nursing team function and clinical workflow in the assessment clinic in consultation with the Radiologist, Designated Radiographer and Surgeon on the day.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support multidisciplinary assessment clinics
  • Provide counselling, education and follow-up for clients
  • Schedule appointments and ensure clinical documentation accuracy
  • Assist with assessment procedures and obtain informed consent
  • Lead clinic workflow and support quality improvement activities
  • Contribute to accreditation, training and service development

 

Skills & Experience

  • Registered Nurse Division 1 with current AHPRA registration
  • Strong clinical, counselling and client advocacy skills
  • Proficient in healthcare software and patient management systems
  • Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent organisational, communication and customer service skills
