About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Psychiatric Enrolled Nurse for our Bed-Based Mental Health Service- Secure Extended Care Unit, to provide evidence-based, family-inclusive care for individuals recovering from serious mental illness. SECU is a 24/7 secure unit with a primary focus of psychosocial rehabilitation for our consumers with severe and persistent symptoms of their illness.
You'll conduct assessments, collaborate on treatment plans, involve families/carers, maintain a therapeutic environment, and ensure compliance with standards and safety protocols while prioritizing confidentiality and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver evidence-based care that aligns with nationally accepted standards.
- Perform biopsychosocial assessments and contribute to treatment plans under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Assess and document the effectiveness of interventions in clinical records.
- Actively engage families and significant others in the treatment process to foster collaborative care.
- Carry out risk assessments and develop management plans as instructed by the shift manager.
- Support the Clinical Manager in ensuring a safe and supportive atmosphere for all consumers.
Skills & Experience
- Professional qualifications in Nursing and a current AHPRA Registration
- Experience in mental health and a commitment to providing evidence-based care for consumers and their carers in a secure bed-based facility.
- Show knowledge of current evidence-based treatments and best practices, contributing appropriate clinical responses in a multidisciplinary team daily
- Knowledge of recovery-oriented practices, less restrictive care, the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022, and strong assessment skills, including MSE and risk assessment.
