About the Role

Our Operating Suite consists of 6 theatres and a 12-bay recovery unit to provide a 24/7 service. Grampians Health Ballarat attracts high calibre specialists which enables us to provide a variety of specialty services including Orthopaedics, Gynaecology/Obstetrics, Urology, ENT, Vascular, Ophthalmology, Plastics, General surgery, and Robotic Surgeries across a variety of specialties. You will have the opportunity to be exposed to many facets of Anaesthetic and Recovery room nursing and be an integral part of our team.

 

As the successful applicant, you will have extensive clinical experience in Anaesthetic, Recovery room and Scrub/Scout nursing for a minimum of 2 years. A post graduate qualification in the fields of Anaesthetic and/or Recovery room nursing considered advantageous. You will be expected to work collaboratively and consultatively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

 

Working as part of our dynamic team, you will be providing and fostering best practice patient care. We have a very supportive education team and will be provided with a comprehensive orientation process. We provide formal education and training sessions on a weekly basis. Applicants must have a commitment to being part of on call teams and there will be evening, and weekend shifts rostered.  

 

Qualification, Skills & Experience

  • Perioperative Nursing Certificate highly desired
  • Well skilled in in all areas of the perioperative Suite
  • Excellent communication skills with the multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated clinical skills in a wide range of procedures
  • Initiating action for patient care 
  • Proficiency and commitment to comply with current standards of practice
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to respond appropriately in high pressure situations
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and be able to respond and relate to medical, nursing and allied health staff 
  • Demonstrates high level communication skills
  • Previous experience in Health and ward clerk roles is desired but not essential.

This position is paid in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2024 - 2028. The classification is Registered Nurse Grade 2 (YP2 - YP9) which ranges from $42.60 - $54.40 per hour.
