About the Role

The Special Care Nursery in Ballarat is a level 4 nursery providing care for unwell, premature and/or small neonates and services the entire Grampians region.  We provide holistic, family centred care to newborns admitted directly from the postnatal ward or the emergency department.  The unit engages a broad care team, providing specialist developmentally-appropriate care.

 

You will be able to work collaboratively and consultatively as part of a multidisciplinary team.  Caring for sick and premature babies is a unique skill set and it is a privilege to deliver a high standard of care for some of our communities most vulnerable patients and their families. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with Family Centred Care
  • Facilitate the Care and Treatment of Infants
  • Foster a team environment encompassing the multidisciplinary team, patients, family and visitors
  • Contribute ideas and actions to Quality Improvement Initiatives
  • Maintain safety by participating in National Standards Portfolio activities, remaining up to date with mandatory competencies and best practice governance documentation

Skills and Experience

  • Current AHPRA Registration
  • Experience within a Neonatal environment
  • Works collaboratively to facilitate and foster the provision of best practice standards of nursing care and service delivery
  • Excellent communications skills with the ability to effectively work with the multidisciplinary teams, patients, families and visitors.
