About the Role

Join our dedicated team at the Adult Acute Unit (AAU) a 24-bed inpatient mental health facility providing specialist care for adults aged 18 to 65. Our unit consists of 20 Low Dependency Unit (LDU) beds and 4 High Dependency Unit (HDU) beds, delivering evidence-based, recovery-focused treatment.

At AAU, we embrace Safewards principles and recovery-oriented care. We foster a strong team culture where staff are supported through regular education sessions, access to a Clinical Nurse Educator, and structured training programs for those new to mental health.

We encourage professional growth through working groups, portfolio opportunities, and career development pathways.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct mental state examinations (MSEs) and risk assessments, contributing to individualised treatment plans.
• Provide education and support to consumers, families, and significant others.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation to ensure continuity of care.
• Actively participate in unit portfolios and quality improvement initiatives.
• Deliver holistic, consumer-focused care as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Skills & Experience

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Div 1).
• A passion for consumer-centred, recovery-focused mental health care.
• Strong ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
• Sound clinical skills and a commitment to safe, evidence-based practice.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with consumers, families, and colleagues.
• A flexible, innovative approach to care delivery.

This position is paid in accordance with the Victorian Public Mental Health Services Enterprise Agreement. The classification is Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 2 (NP21 - NP26) which ranges from $43.81 - $52.29 per hour
