Ballarat Emergency Department Registrar
Multiple Positions | Full time and Part Time
We are seeking Registrars to join the Emergency Department at Grampians Health – Ballarat Campus. These positions offer excellent training opportunities, including rotations through ICU, anaesthetics, and other specialty departments.
The Emergency Department has -
- A main department of 19 beds
- Fast-track
- Paediatric ED (5 beds)
- Short Stay Unit (12 beds)
- Front of house model
- Resuscitation areas (3 bays)
The hospital is being redeveloped and a new Emergency Department will be opened (likely) early 2028.
Our Emergency Department manages over 60,000 presentations annually, including approximately 25% paediatric cases, with an increasing admission rate of 24–25%.

Grampians Health – Ballarat Campus offers a wide range of acute and sub-acute services including -
- Most surgical sub-specialties (upper GIT, thoracic, vascular, ENT)
- Most medical sub-specialties (neurology, respiratory, nephrology, cardiology (inc. Interventional); haematology, infectious diseases, oncology, gastroenterology)
- Psychiatry
- Level 5 maternity service
- Paediatrics inc. Special Care Nursery
- Interventional Radiology
- ICU
- CCU
The campus is a major teaching site affiliated with the University of Melbourne and Deakin University Clinical Schools.
About You
We are looking for motivated and dynamic doctors who:
- Demonstrate a strong team focus
- Possess excellent communication skills
- Have a genuine interest in developing Emergency Medicine skills
- Value patient-centred care and collaborative practice
Candidates should ideally be working towards or eligible for registration with Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) or have a strong interest in pursuing Emergency Medicine training.
At a minimum, applicants must hold General Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
