Permanent Full Time | 40 hours per week including a monthly ADO

About the role

Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service provides timely access to secondary consultation, comprehensive mental health assessment, early intervention and evidence-based treatment for young people aged 0 to 25 years, their families and other services within the community.

As a Senior Clinician you will have substantive professional experience and postgraduate qualification in your discipline. You will provide high quality, and recovery focussed assessment, psychosocial treatment, and care, to young people and their families that are evidence-based and best practice to enhance the person’s recovery from mental health and wellbeing challenges.  

Key Responsibilities

• To facilitate multi-week group evidence-based sessions for parents/carers of children accessing Infant, Child and Youth Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Services, along with the parents and children participating in the School Parents and Resilient Kids (SPARK) school-based early intervention program.

• To assist in the co-design and ongoing evaluation of the sessions leading to adaptations where required to meet the needs of parents, families and children at the local level, and resulting in ongoing service improvement projects.

• To facilitate groups tailored to children experiencing difficulties related to emerging conduct disorder in schools.

• Provide professional development and training to school staff as part of SPARK program to increase supports for teaching staff, parents and children as required.

• Conduct ongoing program evaluation with all program participants.

• Provide ongoing support, guidance and leadership to Mental Health Clinicians in the Programs Team.

Desirable: having completed the developmental psychiatry course through Mindful.

Skills and experience

• You must be able to meet relevant EBA requirements for a senior clinician in your discipline (Psychologist, OT, Social Worker, RPN).

• Registration with AHPRA or AASW (for social workers - desirable).

• Demonstrates an ability to provide leadership, including developing clinical expertise within the team through mentoring, training, teaching and supervision.

• Ability to engage in public speaking, presenting, and ability to use related IT for presenting. Preferred experience in running groups or delivering presentations to a group.

• Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with patients, families, significant others, colleagues and other service providers such as health, education, welfare and child services, maternal child health services and private providers.

• Work from a recovery and strengths-based framework.
