Senior Lawyer

Location:

Ballarat Central, VIC, AU, 3350

About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced Senior Lawyer to join our award-winning team on a part-time basis (0.6 FTE). We’re a small team doing in-house law in an exciting and different way. We use good design and ground-breaking technology to support the delivery of human-centred, accessible legal services for Grampians Health.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Lawyer will have a commercial focus and will be responsible for the drafting, review and negotiation of contracts and commercial matters for Grampians Health.

As part of a small team, you’ll also assist with our core areas of service as required. This might include: health law, litigation, privacy, Freedom of Information, research, reporting obligations, consent to treatment, aged care, family law and children’s law issues relevant to the Grampians Health functions, corporate governance, regulatory issues, intellectual property and leases of real property, insurance, statutory interpretation, probity and procurement, policies and procedures.

Key Attributes

You’ll be:

  • a confident and experienced senior lawyer, able to work autonomously (commercial and contracts) or with minimal support (other departmental matters);
  • friendly and approachable, committed to offering stakeholder-focussed, pragmatic legal advice;
  • happy to work with rapidly changing and competing priorities, where no two days are the same;
  • willing to upskill and develop in other areas of law arising in public health legal practice;
  • open-minded about new approaches to in-house law (plain-language legal services and contracting, automation, technology);
  • willing to support the development of junior team members.

In return, we offer a rare part-time opportunity to work in a small, friendly team environment, supporting the incredible work of our public health system.
