About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and skilled Social Worker to join the Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service (VPRS) as a Grade 2 clinician. THis is a part time role with .4 EFT (two days per week).
Based at the Queen Elizabeth Centre, this part-time position offers the opportunity to work as a valued member of a specialist multidisciplinary team providing rehabilitation services to children and adolescents across Victoria.
The successful applicant will be organised, resourceful and demonstrate well-developed skills in psychosocial assessment, intervention planning and collaborative practice within a multidisciplinary team environment.
About the Program
The Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service (VPRS) provides developmentally appropriate, time-limited and goal-focused multidisciplinary rehabilitation for children and adolescents aged 0–18 years.
The service supports young people who, because of injury, illness, medical or surgical intervention, or functional impairment, would benefit from specialist rehabilitation. This includes children and adolescents with congenital, developmental or acquired conditions amenable to rehabilitation.
VPRS integrates with existing paediatric and rehabilitation service platforms and maintains strong links with the VPRS Statewide Service, Allied Health services and the Botox (BONT-A) Clinic at the Queen Elizabeth Centre.
Multidisciplinary Team
Clinicians within the VPRS at the Queen Elizabeth Centre work collaboratively within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, including:
- Physiotherapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Speech Pathology
- Social Work
- Neuropsychology
- Orthotics
- Paediatricians
- Paediatric Rehabilitation Specialists
Client Groups and Services
The VPRS supports children and adolescents to achieve rehabilitation goals such as:
- Returning home, school, sport and leisure activities
- Reconnecting with peers following hospitalisation
- Intensive rehabilitation following orthopaedic surgery
- Reconditioning following illness
Specialist services and clinics include:
- Acquired Brain Injury services
- Physical rehabilitation and tone management clinics
- Combined orthopaedic and rehabilitation clinics
- Combined rehabilitation and plastics clinics
- Spinal cord injury and disease services
- Chronic fatigue service
- Assessment clinics providing advice on treatment and intervention
