About the Role
Join the vibrant Medical Day Unit and Transit Lounge team at Grampians Health Ballarat as a Ward Assistant. This is a fast-paced and rewarding role, perfect for someone who enjoys being active, contributing to patient care, and supporting the nursing team with essential non-clinical tasks. Flexibility and a strong customer service focus are key.
- Assist with safe patient transfers between departments and vehicles
- Maintain stock levels of linen and non-medical supplies
- Support infection control through cleaning of patient rooms and bathrooms
- Transport medical equipment, documentation, and specimens across departments
- Uphold high standards of patient support and communication
Key Responsibilities
- Transfer patients safely across departments and discharge points
- Clean patient areas, bathrooms, and general ward environments
- Maintain supplies and manage linen distribution
- Assist with internal deliveries of equipment and documentation
- Collaborate with the nursing team for smooth ward operations
- Support team in responding to dynamic clinical needs
- Manual handling requirements
Skills & Experience
- High level of interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to patient support and safety
- Willing to work flexibly across shifts and respond to unit needs
- Strong awareness of infection control and hygiene practices
