About the Role
Grampians Health Horsham is seeking a qualified Allied Health Assistant (AHA) to join our multidisciplinary team within the Subacute Rehabilitation Unit (Wyuna). This role supports the delivery of high quality, person-centred care under the supervision of allied health professionals including Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, and other members of the rehabilitation team.

 

You will assist in implementing individual and group therapy programs, maintain therapy equipment, schedule patient sessions, and provide administrative support. These roles include additional responsibilities such as supporting clinical education, leading quality improvement initiatives, and mentoring Allied Health Assistant Trainees.

 

Core Duties
• Assist allied health professionals in delivering individual and group therapy programs
• Support patients in regaining independence in daily living and functional activities
• Prepare, set up, and maintain therapy areas and equipment
• Schedule patient therapy sessions and support administrative tasks
• Participate in quality improvement, audit, and service development activities

 

Key Responsibilities
• Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to support coordinated patient care
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff while maintaining confidentiality
• Accurately document delegated interventions and patient progress in medical records
• Adhere to all policies, procedures, and infection prevention standards
• (Grade 3) Lead service improvement projects, support staff orientation and mentoring, and contribute to therapy program development

 

Skills & Experience
• Certificate III (Grade 2) or IV (Grade 3) in Allied Health Assistance (or equivalent)
• Experience supporting allied health service delivery, preferably in a rehabilitation setting
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and other computer systems
• Current Victorian or equivalent driver’s licence
• (Grade 3) Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and initiative in service improvement activities
