About the Role
Join the Horsham Emergency Department as a Senior Medical Officer (SMO), reporting to the Head of Unit. This part-time role offers the opportunity to provide high-quality clinical care, support junior staff, and contribute to the ongoing development of emergency services in the region. Weekly hours and start date will be agreed upon following discussion.
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based emergency care
- Support and supervise junior medical and nursing staff
- Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of ED services
- Collaborate with Senior Emergency and On-Call Staff on complex cases
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership within the Emergency Department
- Manage acutely unwell or complex patients in consultation with senior staff
- Mentor and support junior doctors and medical staff
- Assist in service planning, evaluation, and continuous improvement
Skills & Experience
- MBBS (or equivalent) with General Registration
- Minimum 3 years post-graduate experience (PGY)
- ALS certification and prior ED experience required
- ACEM Associateship (or equivalent) preferred for remuneration loading
Remuneration
- Employed under the Doctors in Training Enterprise Agreement 2022–2026
- Classification: Senior Medical Officer Year 3+ (HM23)
- Loading between 10–60% depending on ACEM Associateship qualification
- All entitlements under the Agreement apply
