About the Role
This role is primarily based at the Stawell Urgent Care Centre (UCC), with occasional opportunities to work across Ballarat, Horsham, and Edenhope campuses. It offers the chance to join a growing professional emergency care workforce and access extensive training and development programs through Grampians Health (GH) Emergency Services and the broader organisation.
The Stawell UCC serves the Stawell and Northern Grampians communities, including tourist destinations such as Halls Gap and Pomonal, which experience increased demand during holiday periods. The centre manages approximately 5,000 patient presentations annually, covering a broad range of cases including medical, surgical, paediatric, trauma, and mental health emergencies.
As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you would play a key leadership role within the UCC, working alongside experienced nursing staff and rural generalists while having access to specialist support and resources from the Ballarat and Horsham Emergency Departments. The role is an important part of GH's expanding Emergency Services network, providing strong professional collaboration and support.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and provide high-quality patient care within the Emergency Department (ED), Urgent Care Centre (UCC), and Short Stay Unit within the Nurse Practitioner scope of practice.
- Supervise clinical activities to ensure efficient patient movement, timely care, and an optimal patient experience.
- Educate patients and families and facilitate referrals to appropriate healthcare services and specialists.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams and hospital staff to achieve department objectives, KPIs, and National Emergency Access Targets (NEAT).
- Maintain a safe, healthy environment for patients, families, carers, and staff while fostering partnerships with community healthcare providers.
- Foster a positive team culture focused on engagement, clinical excellence, learning, safety, staff wellbeing, and retention.
- infection control and risk management requirements and deliver care aligned with organisational values and patient-centred principles.
Skills & Experience
- Registered with AHPRA and endorsed by the NMBA as a Nurse Practitioner in Emergency Medicine and/or a relevant specialty.
- Minimum of 5 years' advanced clinical nursing experience in emergency care settings.
- Demonstrated commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centred care.
- Proven ability to exercise sound judgement, discretion, and autonomous clinical decision-making in complex situations.
- Supports a learning, teaching, and research-focused environment within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Demonstrates strong leadership through supervision, mentoring, coaching, team building, and problem-solving.

This position is paid in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2024 - 2028. The classification is Nurse Practitioner (NO1 - NO2) which ranges from $75.53 – $76.97 per hour.
